Welcome everyone to our blog! We will use this to share what God is doing in and around the 1272 building @ Lowe Lane...
For those of you who have not heard our story, here is some background...
My husband and I became Christians in early 2007 and ever since then, God been doing a radical work in us to prepare us for this ministry... our first and only church for the last 5 years had been a small congregation of mostly Hispanic believers, many who were very poor. We loved it and would have stayed, but God had other plans-our pastor was called to go to Dallas, and the church closed in May 2012. We prayed for a new church home and we found Roswell Community Church on the internet. We were attracted to the ministry at Lowe Lane and wanted to find out more.
The first week of visiting RCC, I was given the opportunity to visit the summer lunch program @ Lowe Lane and fell in love. I knew immediately it was where God wanted us. David wanted to get involved too, but couldn't because of work. As I developed relationships with the kids and some of the residents I found myself not wanting to go home. I wanted more. God was working on David's heart too. One day last fall, he announced a building was for sale in the neighborhood and wondered if we should buy it. We prayed and felt God wanted us to move forward. We attempted to secure financing and before we could, the building went under contract. We were disappointed but prayed that the Lord would act on our behalf if it was His will. The contract fell through and we finished prequalification only to find out the building was under contract again! Crushed, we took it to the Lord in prayer again, and trusted that if the building was in His plan nothing could stop it. Two months later we received a call from our agent that the deal fell through again. Not only that, but the seller had heard about us and the work RCC had been doing in the community and even though there were other buyers interested in the building, she wanted us to have first chance at it because of the reputation RCC had built in the neighborhood.
Although there were many obstacles and several delays, the Lord made a way for us, and on February 26, 2013 we officially became owners of the 1272 building! We are so thankful to God for what He has done and for allowing us to be a part of His Plan. We are just stewards of this building on behalf of God and we know we are just a part of the Christ's body. Church, this is all of our building.. this is NOT just the Shelton ministry.... And we cannot wait to see how God will bring others along with us to accomplish His purposes, within Roswell Community Church, and the Church as a whole.
God Bless,
Veronica
